I hate to make unhappy posts. But I thought I should tell you why things have been a little slow around here lately. My uncle had pancreatic islet cell cancer, and he died on monday afternoon. We knew that he might not make it but we didn't think he would be gone so soon. He was, well, not fine during the weekend, because no one in that amount of pain is fine, but he was joking and complaining about his horrible clear-liquid diet and dreaming of all the things he would eat when he got to go back home.

My relatives came in from out of town because he was doing poorly, but no one packed for a funeral. My grandparents are...it's just so sad to see them have to deal with this. I used this quote in my other blog, but it still holds true. No parent should have to bury their child. I never dreamed it would be the youngest of my relatives rather than one of my grandparents to go first. He was only 48.

We love you, Johnnie Franklin Asher. Look out for us.
