That's the longest English word, with 45 letters. I learned that in 8th grade, and while a friend and i were discussing my tendency to drive folks to reach for their dictionary, I decided to look it up again.

Oh awesome. I learned that word in 7th grade. Mr. Kochevar. Awesome. We also learned about kuru from him. Anywho, my own 3rd grade student knows that word. Put me to shame, but I'm so proud of her. ;)
