Writer's Block: Study break

I studied Biomedical Engineering, which sounds more impressive than it is, especially the way it was when I took it. I was part of only the third undergraduate class to have that degree, and the curriculum wasn't really worked out just yet. It was sort of a mash-up of nearly every engineering discipline with lots of biology. I think they've got it worked out now, which is good for recent graduates. Not so good for me. I thought it was what I wanted to spend my life doing, though I'm not really using the degree now (which makes me sad). I'm sure it helps me in my job, but I don't want to be a research tech forever, spending my entire life behind a bench. I want to be a writer. But until then, I'll keep working in the lab.
